A collection of things
Knitting!!! ♥ I did not touch a single knitting needle for 2 years, and then I Marie Kondo'd my frankly ridiculous yarn stash & suddenly felt a burning need to bring back the simple coziness of Making Something Soft, swearing profusely while I drop more stitches than I have adult responsibilities.
Current stash-busting projects: a moss stitch scarf for a dear friend that's almost finished, only missing some pompoms; a colorful garter stitch scarf for my mom; my first attempt at knitting cables... and a mostly-finished raglan sweater from years ago that I'm frogging completely because it no longer fits me. Press F in chat to pay respects.
The Mandalorian ♥ (S2 spoilers ahead!) My dudes, it is SO wonderful to share a fandom with my roommate again?! Especially since they're not usually interested in Star Wars at all. But the show is so fantastic that it's no wonder it drew them in. We binged episodes 1-15 in the weeks leading up to Christmas & had to wait a week for the last one, a time during which we yelled, "HE TOOK THE HELMET OFF!!?" at each other at random intervals & lost our collective shit every time. The S2 finale aired on my birthday & I can't believe my heart was shattered by a bounty hunter and an omnivorous gremlin. 11/10, highly recommended.
Writing ♥ Watching Mando has well and truly lit a fire under my ass & my plot bunnies are procreating like... well, like rabbits. I'm embroiled in several WIPs, all of them terribly fluffy. I also participated in my first-ever fic exchange in December & had a ton of fun! ... Plus I watched the Hitman movie (yes, the legendary pile of shit) and oh my God I hadn't expected to be hit this hard by Nika Boronina feels, but here we fucking are. I have 2 WIPs, one plot-heavy story & one that's just me collecting post-movie headcanons about how her relationship with Agent 47 might progress.

The Gift | The Mandalorian S2 | Rated G, 3k.
Din came awake to faint tugging on his helmet.
A weight had settled onto his chest, compact and small. The tugging was more of a nudge than a decisive, two-handed attempt to pull the helmet off. Faint, thin scratching accompanied each bump of movement against the beskar.
Hope | Star Wars, mid-RotJ | Rated T, 8k.
In which Luke, captured by bounty-hungry smugglers on his way back from Dagobah, decides to put his trust in his father.
Recs!
More Than His Armor by twoseas | The Mandalorian S2
Rated T, 12k. -- Din visits Grogu at Luke’s academy more than any other parent. Luke isn’t complaining.
I did not know I shipped Din/Luke until I read this masterpiece & it won me over immediately. There isn't a single thing about it that I don't love, from Luke's narrating voice to Din being his quietly intense self. The UST was wonderfully done and gave me all sorts of fluttery shippy feelings, and the sparring scene was so well-written. I'm 110% on board this ship now and it's all twoseas' fault. :D
Whiskey Molotov by Nebulad | Fallout 4
Rated T, 43k. -- "Hey Hancock." Audrey looked up at him with that look on her face- the smug shit look that she got when she saw an ambush point that he didn't and made a break for it before telling him what the fuck she was doing. That look usually meant he had about a second and a half to dodge whatever explosion was about to go down.
He couldn't deny she was exciting, though.
"Yeah?"
"You got something on your face."
Random-ass Fallout rec in the midst of Star Wars, lol. I've been rereading this series on and off for the past couple of weeks & it remains one of my favorite F!SS/Hancock fics of all time. Just, gosh, Audrey is amazing and I love her to bits. She's perfect for this iteration of Hancock, and I'm a huge fan of the progression of their relationship, and that it doesn't exist in a vacuum where no other characters ever get to shine. What Once Was Lost makes me tear up every time I reread it (which is often) & has such a special place in my heart.
I feel like this series often gets overlooked because there are a lot more explicit Hancock-centric fics out there, which is a damn shame because it is an absolute gem that needs more attention.
Force Bond by KittandChips | Star Wars
Rated T, 782k. -- This series is an AU about Vader raising a teenage Luke. Or, Vader has his orderly expectations of parenthood repeatedly destroyed by the bundle of adventure and love that is his offspring. Luke dares anyone to suggest they have problems when his father is a Sith Lord who works for evil incarnate.
Possibly everyone and their elderly dog has read this series, but just in case you haven't: what are you waiting for go go go. I frequently reread it all (in fact, it's time for another re-read this year), and I'm still finding new things I adore about it.
Kitt's Empire is well-crafted and complex, a rich and complicated world for Luke to navigate and grow up in. The OCs are all fantastic & well-integrated into the different layers of Coruscanti society Luke tangles with.
And Vader, oh gosh, Vader is goddamn amazing. He starts out hurting your heart with how coldly inept and stilted he is, and will end up hurting your heart with what an amazing job he's doing, without ever dropping out of character. Kitt takes their time developing his relationship with Luke, and does it phenomenally, through a masterful rollercoaster of adventure, angst, fluff, and really well-timed humor.
The whole series is one of the best coming-of-age stories I've ever read in my life, and I'm a Literature major. Go read it. Go.
